GET THE KIDS TO SMILE
How to get that cheeky smile in a photo?
Our photographers have photographed THOUSANDS of families and definitely know all the prompts and tricks to get your kids to have fun and capture those natural smiles that warm your hearth.
We need your assistance!
Yes, we're all trained for all kinds of circumstances but, parents can make a huge difference during a family photoshoot session. How? Here are a few suggestions:
1. ENGAGE AND PLAY
Asking your kids to smile won't work, engage and play with them as you would naturally at home. Putting to much pressure on the kids often has the opposite effect to what’s intended.
2. FEED THEM
Ensuring the kids are well fed before your photoshoot can help avoid the hangry attitude rear its ugly head and if you need to feed the kids during the shoot that’s okay too!
Sometimes a 5 minute break can make a huge difference in a child’s behaviour, a healthy snack can help satiate the hunger while we finish up with your shoot!
But be aware, we have only have 1 hour allocated for your photoshoot
3. COME PHOTO READY UPON ARRIVAL
Arrive at the studio READY TO GO, Kids dressed in their first outfit, this will save at least 10 minutes of your session.
Bring with you a third outfit, in case of something unexpected comes up, we've seen plenty of children make a mess..
4. SAVE THEIR FAVOURITE SNACKS FOR AFTER THE PHOTOSHOOT
Avoid food right before the photoshoot - if you can!
We're great at Photoshop and retouching, but retouching food out of a kids mouth or a banana out of a child’s hand is a near impossible operation. Keep the snacks for the break! Save it for your short break between the conclusion of your photoshoot and the beginning of your viewing session!
5. LOOK AT THE CAMERA
As photographers we know how to get the kids to mile and we also know how small their window of attention is, as parents it’s your job to look at the camera and our job to get the kids to smile. We’ve lost trackt at the amount of times we’ve had a great shot but dad is looking at the 3yr old screaming “LOOK AT THE CAMERA!”
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW!
A family photoshoot is a very important event in your life, we promise that if you follow our suggestions you’ll have a incredible experience in the studio!
